Elderly and disabled rely on this service

AS senior activity organiser of a large local nursing and residential home it was with some dismay that I read recently about the proposed redevelopment of the site currently occupied by Bolton Community Transport.

The service offered by this local charity is relied upon by many elderly and disabled people of our town, for whom public transport is inaccessible. Without Bolton Community Transport these people would become house-bound.

Here at Mill View Nursing Home we have 180 residents, most of them elderly, and many of them wheelchair users. Over the past five years we have been reliant upon Bolton Community Transport to provide safe, wheelchair friendly transport at an affordable price. Our residents look forward to their outings, and we believe that it is important for them to travel out into the community.

l am told by the staff at BCT that should the proposed development go ahead, then relocation is an option. This will obviously be very costly and as a registered charity money is always a problem. Maybe the developers of the Kay Street site could help with relocation costs?
