Heaton win at last

HEATON finally broke their duck when they won their first league game of the season at Horwich.

They made 142 as David White and Mick Woods each took four wickets, before Hirwani took 6-35 to bowl Horwich out for 97.

Egerton added to Astley Bridge's misery with a six wicket win. Bridge made 178-9 with Andy Northrop again in the runs with 54 and Matt Fray 46. Josh Cunlifffe took 4-58. In reply Egerton cruised home thanks to another superb batting display by Jadhav who finished unbeaten on 102.

Eagley celebrated their 2,500th league game in nail-biting fashion as their game with Little Lever ended in a tie. Unfortunately it coincided with them taking bottom spot in the league.

The visitors hit 131 after tumbling from 100-3. Steve Foster increased the margin over his rivals as the league's leading wicket-taker with 8-38.

In reply Eagley collapsed to 40-4 but battled to 131-9, only for Craig Massey to be caught off the last ball of the game.
