IN reply to Roger Hayes' letter in the Bolton Evening News, taking issue with the Labour councillor and promising, given time, that the new waste collection system will work.
Can I ask what he will do if it is proved it will not?
My previous letter published on this issue generated a letter to me via post from Cllr Rothwell, who pointed out in a very political party line letter, why the waste collection had been changed, and, like the elderly reader this week whose letter was published in the Bolton Evening News, I was offered an audit of my waste.
Not once in his letter to me, or in any responses from councillors in your Letters column, has anyone addressed people's complaints and problems caused by the two-weekly main waste collection.
Every time, we are lectured on the need to recycle, and the cost to Bolton Council of fines imposed if they do not meet the 20 per cent recycle target.
This is all well and good, but can we be told WHY? Other councils can recycle, and still collect the main waste on a weekly basis.
If Cllr Hayes has a problem with this, I can supply a list of local councils in the Greater Manchester area who, despite having to meet the same targets as Bolton, still maintain a weekly collection.
I am sick and tired of being lectured by these people, who consistently fail to address mine, and others' complaints, but beat you over the head with the green party line.
