Peter writes a beast of a book

THE Beast of Bucks and other creatures are the inspiration behind a new book.

Peter Sullivan, 59, who lived in Marlow for 30 years before moving to the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, wrote A Beast in Our Midst after reading about the panther-like creatures in local newspapers such as the Bucks Free Press.

He said: "I thought it was quite an exciting thing to write about.

"I read about the Beast of Bucks being sighted in Stokenchurch and the Chalfonts and there are a few close to me now."

His sister sends him copies of the Free Press so he can stay up to date with sightings such as the one recently in Cookham.

The book is about a big cat that makes appearances in a community killing chickens and then moving on to people.

Mr Sullivan was at Marlow Library, in Institute Road, on Saturday, to launch the book.

It is his first stab at writing and he hopes the thriller will one day make the big screen.
