Bolton Arena aims to raise its profile

BOLTON Arena has teamed up with the American firm behind the MEN Arena in a bid to raise its profile.

Philadelphia based SMG, which operates Manchester's MEN Arena, has been brought in by the Horwich-based arena team to position itself as a viable alternative to more established events venues.

The company will provide a tailored package of support, in particular advising on the skills and infrastructure needed to attract and host major events, such as concerts, helping to raise Bolton Arena's profile within the events industry.

SMG is the world's biggest operator of public entertainment spaces, with over 200 facilities under its management worldwide.

In Europe it runs the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, Odyssey Arena, Belfast, and Oberhausen Arena, Germany, as well as its flagship, the MEN Arena.

Paul Bartle, Bolton Arena managing director, said: "Attracting more better quality events to Bolton isn't just good for our business, it's good for the town and the local economy. Events bring in visitors who spend money in our hotels, restaurants and shops."

The collaboration is supported by Visit Manchester and Bolton Council.
