BBC Classical Star finalist in Bolton concert

A YOUNG guitarist who made it through to the final of the BBC's Classical Star competition will appear at Bolton School's Arts Centre on May 9.

Scottish guitarist Ian Watt, aged 17, impressed judges on the show with his rendition of Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez.

The Spanish theme will continue with music by Albeniz and Aguado, plus a performance of Rodrigo's most celebrated solo guitar work, the Tres Piezas Espanolas.

Also on the bill is the young Greek guitarist Jon Gjylaci, who is currently completing his post-graduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester.

The performance will start at 7.30pm.

For more information, ring Paul Fowles on 07831 416358.
