A CONVENIENCE store targeted by burglars who blew up an ATM machine is to hold a fun day to celebrate its reopening after a rebrand.

Saturday's event at Nisa Local in Market Street, Little Lever, will have added significance since the business was rocked on Wednesday last week (July 13) when a gang struck in the middle of the night and stole up to £60,000 by using a gas-fuelled blast to crack open the store's external cash machine.

The outlet, which was voted one of the 100 best local stores in the country a few years ago, has been refurbished and rebranded after previously having been the first of the new wave of Kwik Save branches.

A magician and a face painter will be on hand at the family-friendly party as well as a hog roast, tasting sessions and prize giveaways.

Bhavesh Parekh, managing director of Jaykishan Ltd, which owns the Nisa Local store, encouraged local people to "come along and support your local store so we can continue supporting our local community".

Staff will present to Ladywood School, a special school in Little Lever, a £500 cheque donation from Nisa's Making a Difference Locally charity.
