A DRIVE-through coffee shop, a new pub, and the start of a major expansion project mean that August is an exciting month at the Logistics North employment hub.

Major development is continuing apace at the Over Hulton business site, which is the largest of its kind in the North West.

Next Wednesday a drive-through Costa Coffee, like the one that opened in Bolton town centre this week, will open close to the entrance of the site.

That will be followed on August 21 by Greene King’s new Pine Tree Farm pub.

Work has also begun on the newest section of the enormous commercial development, which will be known as the ‘Multiply’ project.

A total of 10 new commercial units covering more than 31 acres will be built over the next two years, three of which are expected to be ready for occupation this November.

Chris Davidson, associate director of major projects at Logistics North owners Harworth Group, said: “It has taken us just three and a half years to get to this position, where three quarters of the Logistics North is built or in-build.

“We are justifiably proud of what the site has become and we will continue to work hard to get all of these units ready on-time to bring further jobs to Bolton and the region.”

These milestones follow a series of developments in rapid succession in 2017.

In January, Whistl announced its decision to take a ten-year lease at Logistics North, with more than 300 staff starting work from its new postal depot from May.

In June, Olympic cycling gold medallist Jason Kenny also opened Aldi’s new store.

Aldi already employs 550 staff at Logistics North within its enormous regional distribution centre, which opened in April 2016.

Chris Halliwell, manager of the new Costa, said: “This is really exciting. We know that Logistics North is going to keep expanding and getting busier, to it should be fantastic.”
