A BUS strike planned for Monday by staff from First Manchester’s Bolton and Rusholme depots has been called off.

All First Greater Manchester services will now run as normal on Monday, the company announced this morning.

Following a meeting between Unite and First Manchester representatives yesterday, the planned industrial action was cancelled.

Unite has agreed to recommend an offer to its members and a ballot will take place next week, said First Manchester.

Phil Medlicott, managing director at First Manchester, said: “We are pleased that Unite have called off the planned strike action on Monday following constructive talks.

“We are hopeful that staff will accept the offer being recommended by Unite and avoid any further disruption for our customers.”

Schools and commuters were hit when First Bus staff took industrial action on Monday last week. Regular services and schools services were cancelled.
