A FINANCE expert has proved that planning really does pay off.

Independent chartered financial planner, Phil Rose, CEO at Group IFA Rosebridge, based in Bolton Road, Bradshaw, has been awarded the prestigious accolade of Chartered Financial Planner of the Year by the Personal Finance Society.

The award is made in recognition of the contribution an individual has made in raising professional standards and ability across a range of skills.

Mr Rose said: “I am delighted to have been awarded the title. I am committed to raising the standards of professionalism, not only within Group IFA but also within the enlarged financial services sector.

"Within Group IFA, we focus on providing bespoke holistic financial advice, building a long trusting relationship. We develop our people by identifying and nurturing talent, which also makes us attractive to advisers who are knowledgeable, skilled and positive about their role.”

The judging process is tough. Of the 25,000 UK financial advisers, only the 5,000 chartered advisers are eligible to enter the three-stage judging process to be awarded the UK Chartered Financial Planner of the year.

In a 500-word submission, Mr Rose had to provide examples of professionalism, industry innovation and people training to persuade the judges why he thought he deserved the accolade.

Those who are shortlisted after the first stage are required to complete a complex case study. This requires an in-depth holistic knowledge of all areas of financial planning, leading experts then externally verify this.

The final round is a panel interview in London with five judges who ask two questions each on a range of subjects. This allows the judges to better understand the skills, service proposition and professionalism of each finalist.

The award recognises professionalism, trust and builds confidence for consumers that the culture of Group IFA for both its clients and staff are at the highest industry levels.

Keith Richards CEO PFS: “There is no higher accolade than being recognised as a personal finance award winner by your professional body.”
