A TAKEAWAY has boosted its hygiene rating by installing a better extraction unit and investing in staff training.
Grill ‘n’ Greens Mexican food takeaway in Deansgate has been lifted from a ‘one’ rating to a ‘three’ rating.
Owner Muhammad Shahzad, aged 35, said: “We opened in September, 2016 and were inspected in December, 2016, but were given a ‘one’ rating. One problem was our canopies. We have installed a big extraction unit and had staff training. It took a year for the inspectors to come back, but in December, 2017 they gave us a rating of ‘three’. They said if we put in new flooring we will be able to achieve a ‘five’. We will be doing that.”
Mr Shazhad, who lives in Cheetham Hill, said he chose Bolton for his takeaway because he could see a gap in the market for Mexican food and his is the first of its kind in the area.
He said the shop has a turnover of up to £1,600 a week.
