BOLTON online electrical retailer AO.com has officially opened the doors of its brand new office in Manchester city centre.

The state of the art office, located close to Deansgate and Spinningfields, covers six full floors and is home to 220 employees.

It has been designed to be a creative and inspiring space that brings to life AO’s unique brand personality, as well as offering a space focusing on collaborative working.

Named ‘AO Manchester’ the office is home to the business’s in-house multimedia team, a large proportion of its IT team as well as its sales team.

It will also accommodate future growth for the business across a range of disciplines.

The new space offers an onsite Starbucks, as well as a subsidised canteen named ‘The Park Manchester’ in-line with AO.com’s other sites, complete with its very own pizza oven that will be open every day for employees to use.

On the new office move, Michael Bates, Group Customer, Brand and People Director stated; “Manchester has become a hub of digital talent and as an online retailer we need to ensure that we have direct access to these skills. Having a presence here is really important to us, particularly following our partnership with the Northern Powerhouse earlier this year.”

“AO Manchester reaffirms our commitment to investing in Northern talent, offering our employees an office full of outstanding facilities, creative inspiration as well on a practical level, brilliant transport links.”

The company was founded in 2000 by John Roberts following a £1 bet in a Bolton pub. Mr Roberts remains an Executive Director of the company today, while former COO, Steve Caunce was appointed CEO in February 2017.
