COUCH potatoes who find it hard to ditch the TV for the gym might like a new exercise routine that could be on its way to Bolton.

Bolton’s David Lloyd Club could be providing a new burn-while-you-binge service to allow runners to watch TV shows on a personal coach’s back.

The new service, which will be open to non-members, is being trialled in Essex this weekend and could be rolled out nationally.

The new service is designed to raise awareness of the importance of staying active and moving regularly for both short and long-term health.

Recent research reveals that almost a quarter of Britons don’t exercise weekly because of their hectic day-to-day schedules and that one in five watch over 31 hours of TV a week. The ‘PTVs’could be the answer: a team of personal outdoor running coaches with digital screens strapped to their backs.

Runners will be given a pair of wireless headphones to watch any TV shows on Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Now TV or Amazon Prime and will need to keep up with their coach to watch it uninterrupted.

David Lloyd Clubs will decide whether to roll out the service to Bolton by the summer once the trial has been reviewed.
