THE success of a large group of Bolton businesses in a national Business of the Year Awards’ competition was marked by the Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton with a special reception in their honour at the Town Hall.

The Mayor, Cllr Roger Hayes, and Mayoress, Mrs Jaleh Hayes, welcomed the local companies into the Mayor’s Parlour and praised the wealth of business in Bolton and their ongoing success.

David Ramsden, co-owner of thebestofbolton with wife Gaynor, stated: “We’re thrilled that Bolton businesses featured so highly yet again in this national competition and that the Mayor thanked them personally for their contribution to the success of Bolton as a town.”

The winners were Curley’s Dining Rooms, Ocean Palace Restaurant, Bolton Osteopathic Clinic, Amity Law, The Last Drop Village Hotel & Spa, Oven Rescue Bolton, Bolton Young Persons Housing Scheme, Bridge Conference Centre, Room Four Dessert, School Shuttle and Big Bolton Business Expo.

Businesses that were Highly Commended were the USN Bolton Arena, Booth Heating, Stitch Effect, Eckersley’s Removals, Deansgate Osteopathic Clinic, Copy Print Services, Fish Motors and Central Carpets.

Commented Jayne Hart from Amity Law, which has won the Business of the Year Award for Legal Services for six years out of the last seven: “It was a really nice occasion and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was good to be with such an impressive array of local businesses but it was also lovely to have official recognition from the town in this way.”

All the winners also received letters of congratulation from David Crausby, MP for Bolton North East. Added Jayne Hart: “That was also good to receive because he highlighted what small businesses do for the community in helping create jobs. It’s not always something that people think about and, again, it’s a recognition of everyone’s hard work.”
