Motorists are being advised to avoid Hazel Grove this afternoon after a burst water main caused part of a road to collapse.

Police were called to Bramhall Moor Lane at about 2.45pm where a purple Ford Escort had become stuck.

The A6 from Stepping Hill is closed up to Jackson's roundabout and motorists are being advised to avoid the area.

No one was hurt as a result of the incident.
