Car owners warned over thefts

POLICE are warning car owners to be vigilant after a spate of smash-and-grab thefts.

At least five parked cars have been targeted by thieves in Bolton since Sunday.

A steering wheel was taken from a Vauxhall Astra parked in Carslake Avenue, Heaton, at 8pm on Sunday. A Citroen C5 was broken into later that night, between 9.15pm and 11.15pm, in Silverwell Street in the town centre and a hands-free mobile phone set was stolen.

Number plates were stolen from a BMW 316 parked in St Helens Road, Bolton, in the early hours of Monday.

And a pair of binoculars and a phone charger were stolen when thieves broke into a Citroen Berlingo in Runnymede Court, Deane, between 1.30am and 9am on Monday.

A Vauxhall Astra was targeted later that day, between 2pm and 2.30pm, in Mars Avenue, Morris Green, when a first aid kit was taken.

Sgt Paul Slater, from Bolton police, said: "We urge car owners to be careful and not leave valuables on display."

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 872 5050 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Badboi tell Police to do their Job Properly
Badboi is warning police to stop being a bunch of fat, lazy, goo-for-nothing bafoons and do their job properly. Instead of telling people not to leave valuables on display, they should put as much effort in to car crime, then they do to prosecuting motorists going 35mph in a 30mph zone. Badboi appreciates that speeding motorists are an easy target, there is money to be made and they can claim that one more "crime" is solved and make the figures look good. This keeps things in line with Labour's policy of fooling the English people. You may be able to fool most people but i see right through you! Labour out! Gordon Clown out!

I'd better go and buy a car that I can dismantle when I get home at night then. If the scum are nicking steering wheels and number plates, who knows where they will draw the line on what they nick in order to fund their scumbag lifestyle.

The last thing Plod wants is vigilantes, but mainly because vigilantes are an enormously effective crime deterrent.

Number plates were stolen from a BMW 316

Expect this to rise once the Manchester Congestion Tax starts.
