REGARDING the council policy and the 30 minutes warning on smoking. For many years leading up to my retirement, I worked for a local authority somewhat larger than Bolton.
I had for a number of years, in pursuit of my duties, visited quite a number of domestic properties.
Some of these were rodent infested, which smelled of urine and excrement, and were in an appalling state. And yes, they even smelled of tobacco smoke.
If the present incumbents of occupation in their jobs don't like the prevailing circumstances, nobody is stopping them from leaving and getting an easier job.
I am coming to the conclusion that the local authority employees think that the citizens of Bolton are here to serve their interests rather than the reverse.
Thank goodness that ambulance crews don't adopt the same criteria.
