JAMES Edgington wishes anyone reading his column to have a sense of humour.

The point is, most people do have a sense of humour. Trying to write or say something amusing often fails to gain the hoped for response.

We have all said things with the intention of getting people rocking with laughter only to have it blanked or cut off by the next topic of conversation.

Humour must be the most difficult form of writing or combination of the right words and ideas. We must also not equate humour with silly. Serious points can be well illustrated with humour. Laughter if not compulsory. Don't feel hurt if folk don't laugh. Just try harder.
