IT seems the people of Bolton, once again, do not see the town centre quite the same as the Labour Executive.
Councillor Morris and his senior colleagues have a vision of Bolton which is a million miles away from the view of real Boltonians. People see Cheadle Square as a green space for shoppers and workers to enjoy, they say it needs trees and benches not faceless student flats.
Those same people see the town hall as a legacy to be cherished not a branch of Starbucks. And finally they see Newport Street as an almost derelict, windswept and outdated row of cheap shops ready for demolition not tarting up.
Despite Councillor Morris’s presentation of these schemes as a done deal, the deal most certainly is not done. The people of Bolton deserve to be listened to, how about a local referendum Councillor Morris?
