STUDENT accommodation on Cheadle Square?
A cafe terrace defacing our magnificent town hall? What other unimaginable monstrosities are being hatched by councillors.
The old college on Manchester Road could have been converted into student accommodation, but what happened — it was razed to the ground and the lad is for sale as is the Odeon site, which is an eyesore.
Our town is slowly being destroyed, Bradshawgate is a disgrace with a horrendous block of apartments where the LIdo cinema once stood. Who on earth passes these designs?
Deansgate is slowly following suit. The Market Hall was robbed of its character, all specialists stalls disappearing. I doubt more coffee bars and eateries wills ave it, or even a cinema.
The new bus station may become an unnecessary nightmare to locals because of the difficult new location and I wonder what the council has in mind for the old bus stations when demolished.
Boltonians should borrow a phrase from the late JFK and say to councillors: "Ask not what your town can do for you, but what you can do for your town."
