TWO cases of harassment were prominent in the news last week.

One was about Claire Waxman who was stalked by a man for 12 years, severely damaging her life and putting him in prison for the third time.

The second was the 23 year-old woman who called the police after being wolf-whistled on a regular basis as she passed a local building site.

Now this might sound like a trivial case, but it’s really two sides of the same coin.

True, the stalking case is a terrifying example of one man’s obsession and where it leads. And wolf-whistling would appear not to be much of a problem really.

Just shrug it off, girl, and walk away.

But this went on for weeks, making Poppy Smart so uncomfortable she considered changing her route to work. No woman should have to put up with that, and highlighting it helps stop its occurrence.
