I AM all in favour of the smaller bin with one major proviso.

My bin is always full, mainly with plastic and polystyrene food packaging. I am not allowed to recycle yoghurt pots, butter pots, fruit punnets, egg packaging etc.

Most supermarket foods are now pre-packed and that is what fills my grey bin. I brought this up at an area forum and was told that without flammable materials my grey bin the contents would not incinerate properly. So up to you council, extend the amount of plastic packaging I can recycle, and your recycling rates will increase and the smaller grey bin will be practical.

If this requires you to find a different recycling company so we can extend the range of plastic packaging we can recycle then do it. Up to you council, you do your bit so we can do ours, otherwise more trips to the dump, more fly tipping and no improvement in the figures. By the way how do the Dutch manage to recycle 98% of there waste, perhaps you should go and find, out and come back with new ideas, you do your bit, and do not leave it just to your tax paying employers before indulging in new bins, which under the current conditions are totally impractical and a waste of money.
