BOLTON Green Party welcomes the decision by Bolton Council not to allow fracking on council land.
We also applaud the Liberal Democrats who took the motion to the council, along with a 2,500 strong petition.
The conversion of the Liberal Dems is nothing short of amazing when you consider they fought the 2015 General Election on a pro-fracking stance, but their conversion is most welcomed.
Labour on the other hand does not have a clear national policy against fracking, but again Labour councillors' stance against fracking must be applauded.
The Green Party has always opposed fracking anywhere wherever is has been proposed.
What I do know is there is massive opposition in Horwich, Rivington, and Blackrod to fracking.
I have witnessed this many times over the last couple of months whilst out campaigning, and there is now growing opposition right across Bolton.
Maybe the Council decision has been guided by public opinion, I do not know, but it is most welcomed,
I would also like to give special praise to Bolton against Fracking, who over the last two years have done sterling work, raising peoples awareness of the dangers of fracking. Many of their members had never been involved in any sort of campaigning before, so it is to their credit that they have achieved a lot of opposition to fracking in the borough, this seemingly has also carried local politicians along with them.
