THE 2016/17 season of live arts events has started at Cineworld in The Valley at Eagley Brook Way in Bolton.

They are beamed by satellite in HD from the National Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal Opera, the Royal Ballet, the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow.

The leading roles are performed by international artists of the theatre, opera and ballet world. The performances are introduced by a star host who interviews the stars and other staff involved in the productions during the interval/s which gives interesting background information about the performances and a look behind the scenes.

This is an excellent opportunity for people to see these first class international companies at a fraction of the cost of seeing them in the theatres and opera houses. It is also a cheap way for those who have never seen an opera or ballet to try them and they may be surprised to find that they like them.

The Light Cinema and Vue have also announced that they will be showing some of them. Their staff, however, do not have the experience of how to present a live performance which is completely different from showing a film.

Cineworld have been showing them since they first started several years ago and have learned since then and from customer feedback how they should be presented to make the performances real theatrical events.
