THIS may not be a very popular opinion but I really don’t have a problem with paying car parking charges at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

Like other hospitals, it raises revenue for its services. Last year, Bolton NHS Trust made close to £1.35 million from parking although many people feel they shouldn’t be charged at all.

The hospital does make some exceptions – like free parking for cancer patients visiting the Churchill Unit and for blue badge holders. Parking charges, though, are a fact of life on our crowded island and at least these are coming back to help us all.
