I WAS pleased to see that the UK's four children's commissioners have written to the government asking for a rethink on a decision to end a scheme to accept lone child refugees.
Campaigners have argued that 3,000 children could come to the UK under what has become known as the "Dubs amendment".
Alf Dubs was himself a child refugee via the "kindertransport" which helped save almost 10,000 Jewish children from nazi rule in Europe before the outbreak of the second world war.
During the 1930s Britain showed compassion to child refugees. We need this same compassion for today's child refugees.
