IN a remarkably sensible and caring gesture, Bolton Lads and Girls Club is scrapping annual membership fees to allow more children to use its facilities.
It’s very sad to think that today some families cannot afford even £3 membership fee to allow youngsters from eight to 24 to join its activities and take advantage of its amazing support system.
As BLCG chief executive officer Karen Edwards explained: “Every young person should feel like they have somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to, and by scrapping the annual membership fee we want to let young people know that our door will always be open for anyone that needs us.”
BLGC is based in Spa Road and also runs programmes in Hacken Lane, in Westhoughton and at Barlow Park Youth Centre. It’s well worth supporting, especially now that it’s lost annual revenue to try to help more youngsters.
