THE Bolton News published a copy of the letter which I sent to the Prime Minister requesting that this nation spends as much on its health service as France, Germany and other European countries.

The Prime Minister did not answer — the Cabinet Office said that this was an issue for the Secretary of State for Health and passed my letter to him for a reply. I am still waiting for that reply, but, interestingly, the Secretary of State for Health was interviewed on BBC Radio Four last Friday and was asked if the NHS need more funding.

His reply was very precise and to the point as he said funding has nothing to do with him but that it was the Prime Minister and the Chancellor who decide what is to be spent on the NHS.

If I take this at face value, it means the Prime Minister and the Secretary of State for Health both seem to be unable to take responsibility for the disastrous state of the NHS, each blaming the other.

In the meantime, it is the people of this country who suffer, but neither is fit for purpose.

In the letter which I sent to the Prime Minister, I referred to the parable of the Good Samaritan who saw the problem and dealt with it.

I asked the Prime Minister if would she deal with it or would she walk on by?

She chose to walk on by and she claims to be a Christian.

That is one of the many reasons I do not go to church but I will remind her that the one thing God cannot stand is a hypocrite which she has proved to be.

Copies of this letter were also sent to the Leader of the Labour Party and to my MP, but neither responded so really, does anyone care about the people of this country, the sick and the elderly?

We hear so much about them from politicians crying crocodile tears.

I have always expected too much from politicians, but I really blame the people of this country who allow them to get away with it instead of holding them to account.
