CONGRATULATIONS to Cllr Roger Hayes on his election as the new mayor of Bolton. Irrespective of party politics there cannot be a more deserving public servant in Bolton.
His tireless work, particularly in the ward of Smithills, for almost the last 20 years has benefited the Bolton electorate so much.
His sense of moral righteousness on key issues over the years has been a breath of fresh air when many other civil servants have gone about their duties with only their own egos and self importance in mind.
We are lucky to have such a man as our new first citizen.
