LET’S hope that Bolton figures in places of historical interest worth visiting.
Historic England has launched a year-long campaign to identify the 100 places in the country which best tell “England’s remarkable story”.
Bolton’s history includes the man who revolutionised the textile industry (Samuel Crompton) and the two men who changed sports footwear forever (Joe and Jeff Foster who founded the Reebok company).
The town is bristling with history and interesting, accessible places to visit and so deserves national recognition. Fingers crossed that it makes it into one or more of the 10 categories involved, and brings new visitors here.
