WITH reference to the assault/mugging on July 12 of which I was the victim "Woman, 85, attacked" Bolton News, July 15.

I wish to express my sincere gratitude to the following people, Marie, Amy and Zac for ringing the ambulance and the police and for getting my neighbour Jackie to come to the scene and in for contacting my family to let them know what had happened. Also the owners and staff at the Brown Cow Salon for looking after me in the salon until the services arrived, also for the generous collection they raised via their customers and public.

The landlady, Mr Ian Walsh and the lovely customers of the Last Orders public house for their generous collection.

The kindness shown by all the above and people of Halliwell have proved to me that for every rotten apple there are hundreds of kind, generous and genuine people who do care and not just about the elderly.

I am doing well, my stitches are now out, although I am still nervous out and about but my family are doing all they can to help out.

Once again my sincere gratitude to the people of Halliwell who have tried to put a smile back on the face of an elderly lady.

Joyce
