I am writing in response to Bill Collison's letter "Wasted NHS money" I had a similar experience .

I had a vascular problem on my right leg and saw a consultant at Royal Bolton Hospital and was told that I could get a second opinion which I did. I went to Fairfield Hospital in 2015, for my leg to be checked and the consultant sent me for an X ray on my left side. It showed I had a hip problem and needed a hip replacement and they would not do the vascular surgery until the hip had been done.

In May 2016 I went for another X ray on my right leg and saw one of the doctors a few days later who said that the vascular surgery had to be done.

Eventually 15 months later, this February I had the hip replacement done and in July some surgery was done on the vascular problem. In August I went to Fairfield hospital for an ultrasound scan and was told that I was to be admitted the following week, a Bank Holiday and would be operated on the following day. This did not happen. Five days later I was discharged.

This is money that the NHS has wasted.
