FURTHER to the reported claims of potential vigilante action on the Ladybridge estate due to a lack of a police presence (Bolton News, January 9), residents would be more confident that the matter was being treated seriously by the police were a senior officer to attend any meeting with residents so that they could be satisfied that appropriate action was being taken.
Surely there is no other public service that would send junior members of the organisation, no matter how good they may be at their job, to respond to breakdown in the service arising from the stated policy as outlined in your report.
You don't see junior nurses trying to explain what went wrong in a hospital, for example.
In addition, this would have the added bonus of freeing the local neighbourhood team to get on with the job of collecting all the evidence which may identify offenders instead of using their time in trying to defend the indefensible.
