THERE seems to be no end in sight to the appalling chaos on our railway service between Bolton and Manchester.
An extension to the Metrolink tram system to serve Bolton might have helped.
Why is Stockport going to get this and not Bolton ? Short of re-nationalising the whole system, one solution would be to keep the bus replacement service and extend and improve it to form a permanent, daily, express shuttle service every 10-15 minutes.
At least this would guarantee a reliable, pleasant and comfortable journey without the hassle of having to fight one's way through crowded platforms on to jam-packed, standing-room-only dirty trains and commuters would have a choice — bus or train ? It's a no brainer.
