AS a regular user of the roads, I read with interest cyclists constantly complaining regarding room on the highways.

Now they are asking for a door width plus when cars are trying to pass them.

Not only are they a menace riding two-abreast, but now it seems four-abreast plus is the norm.

Motor bikers are real professionals.

I am one myself and would not dream of holding hands and riding bikes talking and laughing on our road today, but to these people it seems the norm.

Is it any wonder so many get killed?

One day the powers that be may see sense, but how many cyclists have to loose their lives before they do?

Where is the common sense of riding two, three and four-abreast, talking and holding hands — and the majority never even use the cycle lanes provided?

It’s easy to say give cyclist one-and-a-half car door widths, but very difficult to do — the roads don’t cater for it.

So instead of penalising the poor motorists, who by the way pay heavily for using the disgraceful roads, lets put common sense into the equation – “Cyclists single file – as single file saves lives”.

This for Government should be health and safety and common sense for all parties and more so longer lives for the cyclists.
