Attractions are worth fighting for

READERS will have been very concerned to hear of proposals to close Animal World and The Butterfly House in Moss Bank Park.

These are important local assets to the whole town. Everyone benefits from having a well-maintained local park with a range of amenities.

The Butterfly House and Animal World provide an excellent service that is free and accessible to all.

Families with young children only have limited income. Many parents simply cannot afford to pay expensive admission charges at amenities elsewhere.

Bolton Council clearly has tough choices to make in terms of its priorities in the years ahead as a direct result of Coalition cuts.

It is hoped that Bolton Council can work together with the unions and find a way to ensure that Animal World and Butterfly House are saved from closure for the benefit of everyone.
