ALAN Calvert (The Bolton News, March 7) is right to highlight the libraries consultation, given proposals to cut library services in our town.
Although it is easy to be cynical about consultation exercises, it is important that people concerned about the future of libraries make use of the opportunity to put forward their views (bolton.gov.uk/website/ pages/Libraries.aspx).
Readers are reminded that a library campaign meeting has been organised for Monday, March 14, at 6pm in Bolton Central Library, downstairs in the Library Lecture Theatre.
Guest speakers include Alan Gibbons, children’s author and organiser of Campaign for the Book, and the Rev Matt Thompson, the Vicar of Bolton.
Anyone interested in working together to campaign to save our local libraries is welcome.
I would also encourage the people of Bolton to join and make full use of our local libraries. Use them — don't lose them!
