I MUST agree with Alwynne Cartmell's letter “Not much sport if you’re a fish” (October 3).

I have never been able to understand how so many people get so much pleasure out of inflicting so much pain on fish.

Anglers say that fish do not feel pain, but then anglers would say that, wouldn’t they?

There are very few things in life more pleasurable than sitting beside a babbling brook on a beautiful summer’s day, watching the wild life, listening to the trickling water and the song of a sky lark hovering overhead and feeling the warm sun easing the stress from your body. Why spoil that by trying to drown worms and maggots and injure fish?
