Nice pensions for ministers

SURELY Dennis Lee misses the point (“Let’s have a level pensions playing field”, Letters December 20).

He can’t surely believe that after 40 years of service, local authority workers on an average pension of £6,000 a year — many of course lower and some women receive £1,600, for example — should have their pensions reduced.

These measures are proposed by a government minister who receives a salary of £134,565, a pension on retirement of £43,825, and a pension pot of £731,883.
