Palais better than Ikon

I AM not in the least sympathetic to the closure of the Ikon nightclub in the town centre. The place offered very little to anyone like myself who is over the age of 25.
There are very few people, thankfully, who wanted to listen to the same old pap that plays out loud along most of Bradshawgate on a Friday and Saturday night — the sort of stuff they call “music” these days!
Also Bridge Street on a Sunday morning should give birth to the term “junk food”. Everywhere you see empty burger and chip cartons and wrappers, even forming a “junk food mountain”
adjacent to an already full litter bin! Need I need to mention the amount of people stumbling out of the place and using the street to be sick in or having a street fight. Back in the days of the Palais, it was a haven for real music and people who could behave themselves.
As Ikon in the past 10 years or so, it’s had its day. RIP the Palais. Ikon, may you be forgotten!
