I ASK the question: Why is the Christian church sitting on vast wealth when, in the Bible, Matt 19 23-24, it says: “It is easier for a camel to get through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into the kingdom of God.”

So, if the clergy from different denominations know this, why are they investing in the world’s financial markets, where some investments are considered very dubious.

Some investments are for the clergy’s pension fund. In Corinthians, Paul calls such clergy “superfine apostles” for taking payment for their services.

Maybe they should practise what they preach and give their wealth away and follow in the footsteps of Jesus and his disciples, seeing it through to the very end. They did not retire on a pension.
