GRRRR! If there’s one thing that makes us all angry it’s when other people dump their rubbish on our doorsteps.
Cases of fly-tipping have soared in Bolton in the last year with 4,000 incidents reported across the town. Two of the latest ones involved a mass of rubbish left in Settle Street, Great Lever, and the dumping by truck of another pile close to Station Road and Randolph Road, Kearsley.
Even though there are still tips and recycling centres around the borough, some people are just too idle to use them, or unwilling to pay for disposal of items.
The authorities do track down perpetrators when they can but it would definitely help to see a tougher stance on this one. Why not insist that those who do the dumping do the clearing up, too? Then local residents can gain satisfaction from real restorative justice that’s seen to be done.
