STEWART Day's decision to make Bury's rearranged fixture against Southend a 'free for all' could prove to be a masterstroke.

The Shakers chairman has tried his level best to put the Gigg Lane club on the map since taking over the reins in the summer of 2013.

But as yet a minimal increase in attendances has not really matched the effort put in by the club's directors to boost Bury's profile.

If the League Two club are ever going to exist at a higher level, Day knows he will need to boost the gates dramatically.

And nothing draws in British punters like the promise of something for nothing.
