JAMES Nesbitt must be one of the most versatile actors around.

He has great comedy timing, and then can turn in a haunting performance in a drama. He was certainly excellent in compelling TV series The Missing, portraying a father in search of his son in a tale rich in shocks and plot twists.

He’s now been nominated for a BAFTA and I for one hope he gets it. He never appears to be making a great fuss of being an actor in the grand sense, just getting on with his craft, skilfully adapting it to whatever he’s working on.
