THIS week Australia was mourning the loss of a sports commentating legend.

Richie Benaud was laid to rest after a private funeral with close family and then a commemoration service attended by cricketing icons.

He became renowned for his quick-witted, humorous views which prompted me to think there were not all that many legendary commentators out there.

Of course, Peter Alliss flies the flag with the best coverage of golf, as shown again at last week's Masters.

But who are going to be the next generation of commentating legends? Somehow I doubt Andy Townsend and Jim Beglin will be thought off in the same light.
