THE only way for any town to move forward is to honour its heritage, and learn from it.
A group of local people who, 30 years ago, decided to actively care for their local heritage ensured the history of Horwich remains pertinent to life there today.
Horwich Heritage was started by Stuart Whittle and Geoff Waine after the closure of Horwich Loco Works – a huge influence on the town’s development for decades.
The organisation has its own impressive Heritage Centre and stages important exhibitions, meetings and events. Horwich Heritage has proved vital to the area, and long may it continue.
