CONGRATULATIONS to Little Lever resident Trevor Abbot.

He was so fed up with the length of the grass at his local playing field that the 53 year-old granddad got out his lawnmower and cut it himself. His hard work meant that children were able once again to play cricket and football on the field.

Cuts to council services hit our community in many different ways and this is just one of them. Parks and fields, though, need regular maintenance and it’s a pity that Mr Abbot had to do it himself. It’s just lucky he is such a good citizen.
