IT was very sad that Bolton councillor Sufrana Bashir –Ismail died at the age of 47 following a battle with cancer.
Sufrana was not only the first Muslim woman to be elected to Bolton Council but also a dedicated, committed councillor for Crompton ward and the town.
She took the lead on environmental issues, community services and public health.
After undergoing gruelling chemotherapy for breast cancer in 2011, she created her own charity, Chemokits, for others undergoing
the same process.
Sufrana was also a kind, caring woman who wanted to help other people, and her legacy is that she did.
