IT’S a pity that the private life of Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk is now eclipsing his genuine achievements.

He was suspended from the Labour Party after sending explicit texts to a 17 year-old girl, is being investigated for rape and is in the middle of a break-up with his selfie-obsessed wife Karen.

However, prior to all the latest negative publicity, he was a hardworking MP making genuine headway in a high-profile campaign to combat child sex abuse.

Unfortunately, like many public figures prompting salacious headlines, little will be remembered of the positive work achieved in the wake of a scandal.
