THERE is something wonderfully heartwarming about the recent pictures of people enjoying dancing together in Bolton.

Not just dancing in the same airspace as each other but holding each other in classic moves that have delighted millions of Strictly Come Dancing fans and now those who watched the two-part programme You Make Me Feel Like Dancing.

This centred on the town’s much-loved Palais and brought together old and new dancers to revive the delights of the waltz and cha-cha-cha.

The Venue Bar followed with a special one-off event of dancing, and more than 60 people of all ages attended for expert guidance from choreographer Philip Hurst and to simply enjoy proper dancing.

While ballroom dancing has always endured through all the various newer trends, it’s just a pleasure to see new fans enjoying it and established ones “going public.”

Here, there is inter-action, practised steps and genuine pleasure in dance moves with history and elegance as well as energy. Let’s hope this is just the start of a brilliant revival.
